So who won the Operation Rainfall poll to get selected Japanese Konami games localized to the Western world?

I'm a bit late on this one, as I have been very busy. But at the end of last month, the poll at Operation Rainfall ended, with the results being quite impressive. The poll taking place between Genso Suikoden: Tsumugareshi Hyakunen no Toki and Beyond the Labyrinth had been quite a showdown, but in the end there can be only one victor. Suikoden took the lead, and by quite a decent percentage. Here are the final results for those of you who didn't have a chance to catch up.

  • Genso Suikoden: Tsumugareshi Hyakunen no Toki (55%, 7,180 Votes)
  • Beyond the Labyrinth (45%, 5,850 Votes)

As you can see, Genso Suikoden took the lead by at least 10%, a Playstation Portable title that took off in Japan of 2012 and the attempt is to get this one localized to the Western part of the world. The PSP is one of my personal favorite all time systems, and probably like you I believe it hasn't gotten the attention it needs for we the fans. On a secondary note, if you yourself are a Suikoden fan, then once again feel free to get in on the cause at both the Revival Movement, and Operation Blinking Mirror.

The attempt at both Facebook page projects is to get Konami to take a hard second look at the Suikoden series and bring it back. Both by making a Suikoden 6 game, and by bringing mega hits like Suikoden 1 and 2 to other formats like Playstation Network, Xbox Live, Steam, iOS, Android, and whatever other formats if possible. Will Konami listen?, well so far at least the UK branch of them have listened to the fans. This December when Operation Blinking Mirror is in its final phase, perhaps Konami Japan will do the same.

The latest numbers for Genso Suikoden: Tsumugareshi Hyakunen no Toki are promising, so cast your vote and help get this one localized

What are we looking at now? Ah, yes. 5,649 Votes have been cast so far for Genso Suikoden: Tsumugareshi Hyakunen no Toki, an excellent Playstation Portable title that never made it to the western part of the world. The localization of games is the effort behind Language Automation Inc. (LAI), a company that works with game developers like Konami to get games released in other parts of the world. While this isn't Suikoden 6 news, it is a new Suikoden title that needs to find its way into the palms of the fans soon. It's been a while since Konami has brought to light a new one, ever since the soundtrack was released a few years ago.

Operation Rainfall is the site where you should go to cast your own vote, and help the cause of getting Genso Suikoden a second look. The updated their site just a couple of weeks ago with a new message.

"UPDATE 07/17/2013: Wow, the results so far have been great! It is good to see so many passionate fans doing their part for game localization. We’d like to clarify to our voters that the point of the polls is to show SEGA and Konami that there is a genuine interest in seeing these games localized and that people will buy them. Even though there will ultimately be a “winner,” there are no losers, as all polling information about all games will be sent to SEGA and Konami. Ultimately, the games that get the most votes will take first priority, but it is still possible that the other games in the polls will be pitched, as well. Thanks to those that have participated so far!"

If we are lucky enough, sometime in the near future you and I will also get to enjoy a new Suikoden game. It's been far too long without one, and it's still not clear if Konami will bring the first two games to other formats like Playstation Network. It could really use it.
