Contra Evolution has finally made its way onto the Android format ready to blast a hole in the Red Falcon

Whether you are an Android owner, or have an iOS device, there seems to be a healthy supply of games for either format these days. A while back, CocoaChina/Chukong had aquired the rights to do a remake of the classic Run and Gun title we grew up with known as Contra. Mad Dog and Scorpion, the main characters of the famous side scrolling shooter, took us through level after level of intense blasting and blowing up just about everything you see around you. When the thought of a full blown remake being done was announced, the fans were delighted, and couldn't wait to get their hands on the outcome of such an idea.

That was then, and this is now. For a while, it seemed only iOS owners could get a taste of the action, and while that seemed the case then, today Android owners can finally rejoice. Contra Evolution as it's called, was just released on the Android format, which plays somewhat similar to the iOS touch screen format. Virtual joysticks?,  check. Added female characters and extra features?, check. The ability to use the old Konami code to give yourself 30 lives?, not so much. Nothing but solid challenging game play here, so Contra Evolution isn't exactly your easy peasy walk in the park game. But it takes a genuine classic and adds some real spice to it. Below is footage from the iOS version, which is similar in most respects.

Yu-Gi-Oh! isn't the only card based game Konami has sank its teeth into, as Star Wars takes the scene with a new strategy game

When you think about Konami, and a card based strategy game, nine times out of ten you will get a response from people in the form of Yu-Gi-Oh!. Konami hasn't stopped there at all these days, after just now releasing a card based baseball game called MLB Live Challenge, they've stepped up to the plate, so to speak, and are now working on a Star Wars game? Yes, that's likely the last thing most people would think about, since it happens to be such a big market that Konami really hasn't had all that much of a hand in as far as I can remember. So let's take a quick look at some of the features you'll be getting if you decide to go to a galaxy, far, far away.

First, the card based game includes over 230 characters from all 6 Star Wars movies, each with their own respective stats and abilities, allowing you to create your own decks to go head to head with rivals and friends in real life. Crystals can be bought in the game or by going through battles, which in turn can be used to further power up your cards. You can also take two cards and unite them together to form an all new experience.

The card based game includes video, sound effects, and music from the series, (what no voices?) to bring you closer to the action, along with questing where you fight enemies to gain extra cards and experience along the way. These are just a few of the features included in the new Star Wars card game, which by the way launches on Android and iOS systems respectively this September 4th. That's right around the corner, and the best part about it is, it's a free to play game! You can't beat that can you? As soon as a video is released, I'll post it here as always. Time to get pumped Star Wars fans.
