When The Phantom Pain reared its pretty little head at the E3 show last June, what we saw was nothing short of spectacular. But that was only the icing on the cake according to Hideo Kojima. He said what we saw didn't do the game full justice, as it will look much better on next generation consoles. Both the PS4 and Xbox One will see not only better looking graphics, but they will be running at a solid 60fps.
This of course, is one of the main goals of Metal Gear Solid 5 on the next gen systems, while current generation systems will see around 30fps. Even at 30fps, that is still impressive for the ever aging 360 and PS3 to say the least. Here are a few of Kojima's statements about it.
"For current gen we're aiming at 30 fps and for next-gen it's 60 fps" "This game was originally developed for multiple platforms, multiple devices and multiple generations"
"Fox Engine was created with the current generation in mind. Maybe with other games that are being created exclusively for next-gen it might look a little behind."
"Of course for the next generation the resolution and the lighting will look much better," Kojima said. "Game play wise it will be the same - we're trying to make it as close as possible. The game play experience won't be affected whether it's next gen or current gen."
I personally plan on getting the PS4 version of The Phantom Pain, as I want to have the best version possible. Can't say you blame me can you? Oh, and if you haven't already, please for the love of glazed donuts take a look at the latest Tokyo Game Show trailer for Ground Zeroes. Solid Snake will thank you.
